How to verify a mover

  1. Open the FMCSA company snapshot for USDOT 4309696.
  2. Check that the name and address match the company you are talking to.
  3. Check that operating authority is active and that the carrier is authorized for household goods.
  4. Read FMCSA’s Protect Your Move guidance on red flags, such as large cash deposits or estimates given without seeing your belongings.

Protection for your belongings

Federal rules require every interstate mover to offer two liability options. You choose one before the move, on the bill of lading.

Full Value Protection
We repair the item, replace it, or pay its current replacement value.
Released Value
Included at no extra charge, but limited to 60 cents per pound per item.

Ask your moving coordinator for the cost of Full Value Protection for your shipment, and declare any item worth more than $100 per pound, such as jewelry, art or collectibles, in writing before the move.

Claims

If something is lost or damaged, file a written claim within nine months of delivery by email to cvl@cobravanlines.com or through our contact form (choose “Claim”). Include your bill of lading number, photos and a description of each item. Federal rules require us to acknowledge your claim within 30 days and respond within 120 days.
