New Jersey to Florida Movers

New Jersey and New York to Florida is one of the busiest long distance moving corridors on the East Coast. Families relocate for the climate, retirees move south full time, and many people move to Florida for its lack of a state income tax. What to plan for when moving to Florida

Hurricane season

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. If you move in late summer or fall, keep your dates flexible and keep valuables and documents with you.

Condo and HOA rules

Many Florida condominiums and HOAs require a certificate of insurance from the mover, a reserved elevator and set moving hours. Ask your building for its rules early so we can send the paperwork before move day.

Heat and humidity

Wood furniture, electronics and artwork do best when they are wrapped and loaded quickly. Plan for early morning deliveries in summer.

How your move to Florida works

  1. Quote and inventory. Call or request a quote online. A moving coordinator goes through your rooms, large furniture and boxes, because long distance price depends on the weight or volume you ship.
  2. Written estimate. You receive a written estimate listing every charge, your pickup date and your delivery window. Read about binding and non-binding estimates before you sign.
  3. Packing and loading. We pack what you choose, wrap furniture, and inventory every item on the bill of lading.
  4. Transport to Florida. Your shipment travels about 900 to 1,300 miles. If your new home isn’t ready, it can go into storage until it is.
  5. Delivery. The crew unloads, places furniture in the rooms you choose, and reassembles what was taken apart.

Frequently asked questions

How far is a move from New Jersey to Florida?

Driving distance from North Jersey is roughly 900 miles to Jacksonville, 1,060 miles to Orlando, 1,140 miles to Tampa and 1,290 miles to Miami, mostly along I-95.

Do you also move from Florida to New Jersey or New York?

Yes. We move households in both directions between Florida and the New York metro area, and between Florida and the other states we serve.

How is the cost of a long distance move calculated?

Interstate moves are priced by the weight or cubic volume of your shipment and the distance, plus any extra services such as packing, storage, long carries, stairs or shuttle trucks. Your written estimate must list every charge.

How long does a long distance move take?

It depends on distance and season. Your order for service must state an agreed pickup date and a delivery window, and the mover must tell you if pickup or delivery will be late. Ask for both dates in writing before you book.

What protection do I get if something is damaged?

Interstate movers must offer two liability options. Full Value Protection makes the mover repair, replace or pay the current value of a damaged item. Released Value is free but covers only 60 cents per pound per item.
